With exactly one day away until my birthday, I’m afraid I’ve bit the big one and planned a little too last minute for my 24th. SO, with that being said – What’s a girl do to on her birthday that doesn’t take much planning? Hm…sounds like it’s going to be Vegas. I’ve already begun the packing process, and tried not to forget any of the party-town necessities a girl of my in-ability to have fun outside of her apartment may need. Some fashion blogger’s already have a set idea as to what a girl should bring and wear to Vegas, however I like to cross the boarder and do things a little differently, with a little less sequins. I shopped around Miss KL and found a few pieces I just CANNOT live without, and feel fit the bill for “What to wear to Las Vegas.”

1. My most favorite sunnies of all time – Quay “Bat” sunglasses.

2. This super cute Lolli Swim “Ziggy Stardust” One Piece.

3. Loveme playing cards so I can brush up on my terrible poker skills.

4. Forget the sequin dress – go for a fun leather dress, like this rad Friend of Mine dress.

5. There’s nothing more I hate than seeing a gang of girls run around after a club without their shoes on. Don’t be that girl. Trade in those terribly uncomfortable stilettos in for a pair of uber-cute booties, like the Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane boots.

6. Buying drinks in Vegas is super expensive…so pre-party with a fancy flask, like the Wilouby Flask.

7.  Trade in that boring handbag for this playful Omighty Hologram clutch.

8. Make a statement with bold accessories, like the MKL Collective Snake Wrap ring.

A few months ago I had the pleasure of working with the talented photographer, Kevin Mayer (Get at Kevin on his tumblr and Instagram @kevmayer) with the rad Miss Kl team for a blog post. Just one of the many little pleasures I’ve come across during my time here in Boston.This place has some what left a bitter sweet taste in my mouth as of late. I mean, I’ve only been here for a measly 9 months, however the things I have experienced during that time have been priceless. I got to meet some pretty rad people, and fell for a guy I didn’t think even existed. Yup. This year has certainly been a big one for me, and the changes just keep coming. As I sit here in my apartment, depressed about what’s currently going on, and anxious to see what happens in the months to come, I find myself day dreaming of my life back home in California. Sorry for being an uber bummer. This year just wasn’t what I expected.

Ok. I totally suck at this whole personal blog thing. What do you expect? It’s not my fault I have a full time job and freelance like crazy, not to mention find it necessary to have a “LIFE.” Sheesh! I feel like this is something I always comment about through out the entire blog, but whatever. I might as well change the name of the blog to “Dang. I don’t really blog as much as a I should, so I’ll just keep writing about it and not do anything about it.” Waaahhh! Blah Blah Blah! Anywho – Happy 420!  I don’t smoke, but I hope you enjoy your day. BYE.

One thing I like to take pride in is the fact that I don’t really like to let people do things for me that I could do for myself. Since I was a young buck I wouldn’t even let my mother read me a book, claiming I could read it a lot better. I guess this personality trait has followed me into my twenties seeing as I refused to buy things I know I can create on my own. Like a pair of playful embellished sunnies. This past week at Miss KL, I was able to do a super fun DIY video using a pair of ‘Retro Cry-baby’ Replay sunglassesavailable on the site. I’m really excited about this video project, and will be doing one every 2 weeks. What do you think I should make next time?

It’s been 4 long months since I first moved to Boston, and only a few days since I came back from Cali for Christmas break. The break was far too short. It seems as though returning to California just made me realize everything I’m lacking here in beantown; Family, friends (outside of work), and weather that doesn’t make me cringe at the sight of my IPhone’s weather app.  I’m being depressing…I know, however this is just the itch I’ve been feeling that’s in dire need of being scratched. After being super psyched about this change in the beginning, and super ready to leave everything behind, I’m now dreaming about the next time I can fly back home to see my family and friends again. Now before your assumption is that I’m unhappy with work – you’re totally wrong. I love my job…It’s not that. It’s more so the fact that I can’t just call up my friends whenever I’m bored, or bug my mom all the time when I feel like it. Self-Newsflash: I’m 3,000 miles away. I miss California.

Anywho – before I get way too depressingly emotional, just wanted to say Happy New Year! You can find me watching Full House all night.

One thing I happened to love about this particular story was the fact that 3 out of the 10 came from the trail-blazing streetwear brand, Hellz Bellz, which obviously proves that the women’s brand is clearly breeding some awesome ladies. The fact that Complex is noticing really gives me warm fuzzies, and makes me all excited. I really cherish the time I spent working for Hellz, and am now super duper excited about my new adventure here at Miss KL. Big things are happening at Miss KL…can you smell it?

My roommate Justine and I are so cute…we do things like decorate our apartment for every holiday, and head out to the most touristy parts of Massachusetts. She’s the alternative to having a boyfriend I guess, minus all the drama and annoying texting that is seemingly necessary when you date someone. Today we headed over to Cambridge where the tourist apparently flocked to, and we got our creepy boy-watching on. Now knowing that there’s not REALLY a babe drought in Boston makes me feel THAT much better about leaving the apartment. Very slowly is Boston starting to prove itself to me. I can honestly say I was mildly disappointed at first with Boston, however I see a bleak strand of light shining my way. But…I still miss California.

Besides the whole “Building Experience” thing that is obviously attractive to all, working for a clothing line totally has other benefits…like the fact that you get to meet thousands of really awesome people whose interests align with yours. It also doesn’t hurt that those friends just happen to hook you up with goodies like it’s Christmas year round. For instance, my friend Nick (who is a phenomenal photographer) sent me over these rad pair of Oakley Frogskins which I have yet to take off. It’s cool to wear sunglasses to sleep, right? I absolutely love how light they are, and the slight cat-eye shape to the frame makes for the perfect alternative to a retro pair of Ray-Bans. It’s frames like these that make me feel not so bummed about losing my Ksubi’s at Coachella last year.

I totally suck at this whole personal blog stuff apparently. I guess when it’s something you’re not being paid to do, the self-motivation can creep down below sea levels. HOWEVER, despite my recent laziness I have come to an agreement with myself that I would force myself to blog at least once a day(which is mildly sad, but whatever…I’m getting out of this writers block dry spell. Don’t judge me.). Seems reasonable, right? Totally.  The only question I kept getting flustered over was – How long will this writers block last? So in-turn I go to my good frenemy, Pinterest.  A few months ago I came across a few random look book images that I fell utterly in-love with. Sadly due to the fact that Pinterest slightly sucks when it comes to properly sourcing images,I had NO idea whose line it belonged to. Thus leaving me with a couple of  brandless photos saved to my desktop, doomed to drown in a sea of hundreds of images just like it.  ALAS! Thanks to the rad Erica and Lauren of Honestly WTF I, FINALLY found out who this mystery brand was! Putting a name to a look book feels so so good. Wouldn’t you agree?

Ladies and fabulous men – I am obsessed with this Maison Scotch line. If there was one line I could use to describe my personal style, it would have to be this one. With a taste of Southwestern influence and loads of layered knits, I can easily see myself living in each look. I adore how proper and tailored everything is, but some-how has this whole “unkempt” vibe to it. Sigh. I love this so much. It makes me feel ok about wearing denim wovens and printed trousers on a regular basis. Maison Scotch – God bless you…now give meh evraythang!
